Manifesto
What it is
A manifesto is the declaration of you made manifest — a description of who you are at your highest vibration, written by you, for you.
The dictionary defines “manifesto” as “a written statement declaring publicly the intentions, motives, or views of its issuer.” Your manifesto is the declaration of you made manifest. — Julie Colwell, Manual v3, p. 53
It is the practice’s long-form, life-spanning version of a conscious commitment. Where unconscious-to-conscious-commitments surfaces and replaces one pattern at a time, a manifesto says: here is who I am when I am most myself; here is who I am committing to be over time.
A manifesto is organic — it can be changed as often as feels true. The point is not to be right about it but to find what feels true right now. If something feels even more true tomorrow, the manifesto changes tomorrow.
Over time, your manifesto will become the main story you tell yourself — no matter what. — Manual v3, p. 53
What goes into a manifesto
The manual offers these as possible inclusions:
- The name of your essence
- Your life purpose
- Archetypes that your life expresses
- Your most cherished values
- How you want to interact with yourself, the world, and Source
- Your experience of the friendly universe
- Your intentions
- Your biggest aspirations as to who you want to be
A manifesto may also be one line, a song, or an image. “Words hold so much frequency that when I tune into them I can feel them through my body.” Whatever form lets you feel it through your body is the right form.
The move
-
Write the manifesto. Lead with what feels true at the highest level of consciousness you can reach today. Aspirational is fine — you are not claiming to live this fully yet.
-
Memorize it. Read it. Repeat it.
-
Record it. Read it into a recording device and play it back so you get used to the words in your own voice.
-
Repeat it to yourself. Especially when you are in a relaxed and open state. Notice how this new story of you changes the way you talk to yourself and opens new possibilities around you.
The manifesto is not a goal to be achieved. It is a frequency to be inhabited. The practice is reading it from above the Bridge so the body learns the state.
Julie’s manifesto — as a worked example
The manual reproduces Julie Colwell’s own manifesto as an example of the form. An abridged version (from Manual v3, p. 54; full version at juliacolwell.com/books/the-inner-map):
I am La-di-dah Star. I am a divine being of love and light. I’ve come to this planet to have a great time, have wonderful adventures, and to support the shift beyond hierarchy into co-creativity. I embody my divinity and am a mirror to all I meet of their most amazing beingness. I live from and in space and form, and in the magical energy of flow. I move back and forth between space and form, and accompany others as they do the same.
I love every bit of my being — as I love every bit of all beings — from the most expanded to the most contracted. I focus on strengthening my ability to love steadily, consistently, like a cascading river. As one cell of more than 7.85 billion others in the human body, I celebrate my role of thriving, expanding, and evolving, to serve myself and all of the galaxy.
I live in a friendly universe. I trust myself, the world, and Source. I know that, as I live in impeccable integrity, life is sweeping me along my perfect path. I know that all is unfolding perfectly, and that all is well. I and those around me easily move out of old patterns into new possibilities. We playfully move out of Reactive Brain into Creative Brain, unleashing our gifts, power, and creativity.
My inner peace is reflected by deep sleep, nourishing rest, deep contentment, wonderful dreams, and the ability to choose my most conscious response. I move out into the world with an open, loving heart, celebrating and appreciating the miracle of life and of my own existence, as I step into the flow of magic and the magic of flow.
Julie names this manifesto as abridged and aspirational — “I strive every day to live into it.” The point of including her version is not to copy it but to see one fully developed form, then write one’s own.
Why this matters
- The manifesto is a hypnotic induction. (See Hypnotic Inductions in Manual v3, pp. 92-93, and the wiki framing on hypnotic-inductions if drafted.) A manifesto repeated regularly is the practice of inducing the state it describes. The body learns the frequency.
- It anchors essence. Once written, the manifesto is something to return to — especially after Reactive Brain has been running the show for a while. Reading the manifesto is a reorientation move.
- It belongs to the practitioner. No one else writes it. There is no manifesto template the team gives you. The practitioner is the only one who can know what is true.
Facets served
- facet-aligning-with-essence — primary. The manifesto IS the essence-aligned declaration the manual recommends as one of the “powerful tools for anchoring in essence” (p. 46).
- facet-living-big-life — the manifesto is also one of the “I trust myself / I use practices to support expansive living” practices.
Related principles
- principle-9 — spiritual, not religious. The manifesto is unapologetically spiritual in tone while remaining non-denominational. Julie’s example names Source and the universe — language the practitioner chooses for themselves.
Related tools
- unconscious-to-conscious-commitments — the manifesto is the long-form, life-spanning version of a conscious commitment.
- intentions, commitments — the per-day and per-area versions of what the manifesto holds as a whole.
- determining-purpose — life purpose is one component of a manifesto.
- essence-interview — the name of one’s essence appears as a manifesto component.
