Principle 9: Spiritual, Not Religious
For us, “Creative Brain” implies a connection to something bigger than ourselves. Thus, we are a spiritual practice that is not based in any religion.
Commentary
Names EPI as a spiritual practice without making it a religious one. Connects to the Inner Map / Reactive–Creative Brain tool (not yet ingested) — the “Creative Brain” referenced here is a layer-1 tool.
Status notes
v3, ready for team review. Named in source Open Questions as load-bearing. Also named (with Principle 5 and 10) as in direct tension with the superseded Facilitator Development Pathway — see facilitator-pathway-vs-no-professional-class.
Depends on a tool not yet ingested: the Inner Map / Reactive–Creative Brain. When the tool page lands, this statement’s reference to “Creative Brain” becomes a live cross-reference.
⚠️ Source numbering gap: source v3 jumps from statement 7 to statement 9 (no statement 8). Renumbering is a team call; will be a wiki-wide operation.
Source confirmations
v5 strategy draft (raw/EPI_Expansion_Strategy_v5.docx.md) is an independent
source asserting the same content. Section “The Spiritual Dimension”: “This practice is spiritual. We say that plainly. We are non-denominational and individually defined. We do not require belief in anything.”
This is archival corroboration — a different voice and a different context arriving at the same statement. Worth noting for the eventual ratification pass.
