Principle 14: The Practice Has Multiple Homes
⚠️ Source numbering drift — duplicate label. Source v3 labels both this statement and the donation-only statement as “14.” See also principle-14-donation-only. The team’s intent is two distinct statements; the duplicate is a renumbering artifact. A future renumber will be a wiki-wide operation touching every
[[principle-N]]cross-reference acrosswiki/, plus any string references inpurpose.mdand the source docs inraw/. Do not silently renumber — coordinate.
The practice has multiple homes: solitary daily practice, the open meeting, and one-on-one Guide–Traveler relationships. Each container has its own shape, and we honor all three.
Commentary
Names the three containers of practice and gives each equal standing. Bridges the meeting container (principle-13) with the Guide–Traveler container (principle-20, principle-21) and solitary daily practice. Structurally important: signals that the meeting is not the only place the work happens.
Status notes
v3, NEW in v3. Without this statement, the move from one container to another would feel abrupt. It also implicitly tells practitioners that the meeting is not the only home.
Source inline note: “bridges the meeting container with the Guide–Traveler container introduced in statements 19 and 20.” Source pointer “19 and 20” is numbering drift — refers to current principle-20 and principle-21.
